Meeting River Salem

What a wonderful day we had yesterday!!

Addie Mae brought Clyde and little Miss E to the farm in the early morning, and they spent the day here with us!

Very early yesterday morning, as I helped David and Kayla get ready to leave the birth center, I had David take a photo while I held my darling grandson, River Salem.

Moments like these are hard to put into words.

River Salem, you are SO loved!!!

Addie Mae took the babies back home after dinner to meet their baby brother!!

We followed behind a little later so everyone could meet River too.

I think the photos will speak for themselves!

Tate asked, “Are these the clothes he was wearing when he came out of your tummy?” Good question, buddy!

I just couldn’t possibly pick a few!!

Isn’t River beautiful?!

I will say it too – and THAT HAIR!!!

We were so surprised when he arrived with all that dark hair!!

I think yesterday was THE BEST DAY EVER!

That is, until the end of today, when I am sure that will change again.

Welcome to our crazy, River Salem!

You have filled our cup to overflowing!!

IT’S A BOY!!!

It is with GREAT pleasure that we introduce you to our new grandson, River Salem!!

He was born yesterday evening, June 4th, at 6:06 p.m., weighing 7 pounds.

Mama and River are resting and doing very well!!

Praise the Lord with us!!

What a precious, precious gift!!

Lane’s Turn

Last night it was Lane Stevan’s turn to go on date night with Blake and I!

OH MY HEART.

You all, this is SO fun for us!!

This boy is one word – JOY.

Joy, joy, joy!

He is a deep thinker, a problem solver, and WAY beyond his nine years of age.

Lane wanted to get snacks and head to our favorite coffee shop!

The young man who serves us at this coffee shop was a little suspicious last night!

Who are these people who keep bringing a different child with them for coffee on a Friday night?!!!

So we filled him in. It was super sweet.

Lane wanted coffee – so a decaf Americano it was!

Lane had turned on the tablet, but between eating and talking he hardly played with it at all.

We had just been to a meeting with a builder to continue our look into building a home.

We had talked to this builder last year.

Lane gave us all of his good ideas in case we build a house!

We had also already been shopping to buy this growing boy new shoes!

After the coffee shop we headed to Wal-Mart to get him some socks.

A stop in the toy department is always fun too!

Lane had money to spend.

I LOVE all the differences between our kiddos – but one thing they have in common is none of them like to spend their money.

That’s not a bad thing!!

Lane chose to not get anything and save his money instead!

We got home super late….and then stayed up even later talking to the other kiddos! (Tate and Eliza were in bed).

It was a GREAT DATE – and next up it’s Chad’s turn!!!

He is a fun one too.

One-on-one time is a favorite around here!

I am sure you can see why!!

Summer Days

GAH!!

Today may be the BEST day EVER!

It is just SO beautiful outside!

We are enjoying our summer days to the fullest – even when they are not warm and sunny!

Colder and cloudy days have us listening to books, coloring, and doing school like projects!

Someone likes his milk!

His Mama loves his dimple!!

Beautiful summer days are full of all kinds of good things!

Like running down into the valley first thing in the morning with a sweet baby!

So that sweet baby can get a haircut!

When we returned home, we followed the farrier into the farm.

He was here to work on our two new horses, Gambler and Gridlock!

Grant stayed home to help keep everyone calm – and then he headed to work!

Then while the littles played, the middles cleaned the van inside and out!

In their swim suits, of course!

Thanks boys!

The best day ever means that you opened the pool for the season and let the kids freeze go for their first swim!

After swimming we had some delicious smoothies!

Just look at all that yummy!

These summer days will be different this year as we get ready to move off the farm.

I have been packing!

Whoever is available at the time jumps in and helps me!

Yesterday I managed to pack ALL of the school books and now these shelves are empty!

I have the books in those totes, labeled and ready to be stored.

I also got smart and packed all of the things I will need this fall into one tote and marked it well so I can just grab it when school starts!

We are downsizing with this move – in all ways.

We plan on having a smaller home, and less land.

And less STUFF!

I hope to leave here with half of what we have!

So far this week we have taken two van loads to Good Will, have many photos of things that will be listed and sold, and have filled half a dozen black garbage bags with junk.

How embarrassing is that?

This house is huge and we have SO MUCH STUFF.

We received the offer on our farm one week ago today, and finalized the details of the offer on Sunday night.

We have eight more weeks before we are supposed to close, even though our closing date is not set yet.

We are still working out where we will be going!

Trusting in Jesus! He knows!!

I am hoping to give the middles and littles as much normal as possible during this transition.

Summer school, read aloud, going places, swimming…..these things will all be priorities!

Speaking of priorities – I needed a break from the knats – but now I best better head back outside and spend the rest of the beautiful day with my kiddos!!!

We are still waiting on Baby K – Kayla and the babies will be here any minute to visit though!

Hope you all are having a beautiful day too!!
