Tate’s Adoption Day!!

Yesterday morning we went to court to re-finalize Tate’s adoption!

004

Tate’s adoption was final the second day that Tate was with Blake and Grant in China. By re-finalizing yesterday, we receive some very important documents, like a birth certificate and adoption decree, in English. We have already used the documents from China to get Tate’s social security number, and it was quite an undertaking! So, this is a very important step for Tate’s future!

Our whole family gathered for this event! Even this little cutie pie!

003

The judge had everyone introduce themselves, after he commented that we “have a very large group!” Yes, we do!! Then he had Blake and I promise to do our best at raising Tate to be a good standing citizen in our community. Blake and I were happy to reply “Yes, sir!” and just like that it was done!

I asked if there was time to take a photo, because there was quite a crowd out in the hallway. The judge said “We can take all the time you need.” So sweet! The bailiff took this photo for us!

006

Addie Mae grabbed another photo of Blake, Tate and I in the hallway, and then it was off to the Co-op to get treats to celebrate!

001

Even though this was really just a paperwork formality, it meant a lot to me! I was not there in China the day that Tate’s adoption was finalized!

We love you forever, our precious Tate Owen!!

Happy Birthday, Lane Stevan!!

Yesterday was Lane’s birthday!

Our growing boy is eight years old!!

I have no idea how that happened!

What a great photo I have here! Did you notice?! Lane’s front teeth are finally growing in!!

020

Following tradition, Lane chose the menu for all three meals yesterday, and also chose what he wanted for dessert!

We started the day with chocolate donuts, and freshly squeezed orange juice!

008

009

010

For lunch we had chili soup and cornbread muffins!

Grant made the chili soup for us, and I made the cornbread muffins!! (I also made some banana walnut chocolate chip muffins for later!)

017

023

024

Our three favorite people came up in the late afternoon to help us celebrate!

031

035

We had a huge breakfast buffet for dinner and then it was time to open presents!!

Lane was CLEAR excited!

063

067

Once all the boxes were opened everyone was looking at everything, and I said “Oh, no, honey! I think we forgot one! Let me count! Yep! We did! Remember that other one, honey?!” Blake played along and said he would run and grab it from it’s hiding place!

SO, so funny – NONE of the kids thought anything of it, because I have forgotten gifts SO many times. Ha! One year I found a whole bag of Christmas gifts in the garage. In April!

Blake returned with this – and surprised not only Lane, but everyone!

Lane’s current bike is a hand me down from Chad, which was handed down to Chad from a wonderful family who had two girls! Yes, it is pink! And has had parts replaced on it from other broken bikes out there!

071

072

075

Well, I would say that was a win!

Time for CAKE!

Even with working most of the day, Addie Mae pulled off exactly what Lane asked for!

083

084

092

Of course I have to include more photos of this adorable little man!

077

080

082

The boys all ran outside in the fierce wind to launch Lane’s new rocket and use the sling shot!

Then they were thoroughly frozen, so they settled on playing one of his new games – Ticket to Ride!

097

096

G-Pa and Eliza gave our little man Clyde Strength his bath!

098

And that was our birthday party in a nutshell!!

Except for endless fellowship and laughter as we had a “big circle day” around the kitchen table!!

Lane Stevan, we love your huge heart, your do-it-myself visionary spirit, your facial expressions, your mechanical mind, how you see all things as black or white, your cuddly side, and watching you pour grace over your little brother and sister all day long everyday.

You are a precious gift, Lane Stevan!! And we are SO thankful that the Lord brought you not only into this world, but into our family!

Happy, happy birthday, Lane!!

*There’s another new post below, with news about our move!

This Week

It has been a busy week!

Getting ready for a move is no joke!

But we are having a blast working together to make it all happen!

I haven’t been picking up my camera much lately, though.

I didn’t take ONE photo the whole day on Easter Sunday, and I really wish I had!

We had a wonderful Sunday celebrating Jesus Resurrection!

We traveled back to the church Blake and I had visited the week before on our get-away to worship there.

It was SO beautiful!!

Then we traveled some more to spend the day with some friends whom we had not seen since last December.

It was a fantastic visit full of fellowship, good food, seeing their barn they are making into their house, and some kiting!

Addie Mae took these photos with Grant’s phone.

This past Friday was Addie Mae’s first day of work!

She is working just down in the valley, about seven minutes from the farm, at a little country bulk food store that also has greenhouses in the spring, summer and fall.

She is loving it! I am her chauffeur!

The Lord has truly blessed our efforts for our move!

We have made an agreement to purchase a home (that was not even on the market!) from our neighbor – ONE ROAD OVER from the farm!

It is a two-year old walk-out ranch on a little under three acres. There are no out buildings, but there is a 3 1/2 stall attached garage!

It seems that the Lord will see fit to keep us on this ridge top that we call home!

All the kiddos got to see the new house this week and they are SO excited!!

Now we just need the farm to sell! We are praying for the Lord’s will in that, but also that it will be as big of a blessing to the new owners as it has been to us!

Our prayers are never in vain! We are so excited to watch the Lord bring just the right family to our farm!

We had a fun celebration for a certain eight year old boy yesterday – that post is up next!

Have a great week everyone!!

Our Days and Some News

I just spent a big chunk of time over the weekend and yesterday planning the end of our school year for the kiddos!

We will be finished with “formal” school on May 5th, Lord willing, if all goes as planned.

Usually all does not go as planned though!

So maybe we will finish a little later than that!

We do some school during the summer too.

It just doesn’t look like the school we do the rest of the year.

012

The littles are loving the My Father’s World curriculum I started with them!

010

011

008

009

011

We also started rowing a new book yesterday – super cute, as always!

007

The story is set on the prairie during pioneer days.

We made a map of where the prairie is in the United States.

005

006

004

Tornadoes are also mentioned in the book.

So we made one! In a jar!

008

007

009

010

The littles THRIVE on directed play. It makes our days go so smooth!

I just love this ABC memory game we have. The pieces are sturdy and cute!

While we play, we say the letter, the sound it makes, and the picture that goes with the sound.

They learn SO quickly this way!

012

014

015

I have the middle boys do an illustration and write about what they read in their Science lesson.

I love how far they take this simple task!

They find a tutorial to learn how to draw what they want to draw so they can do it well!

And they are both getting pretty good at drawing.

017

018

Last week we had some spring like days, and then got buried in a foot of snow!

Now we are having some spring like days again.

Addie told me yesterday her body is so confused! So is mine!

The kiddos spend every second of the afternoon outside when the weather allows!

We have had two HUGE events in our world here!!

After what I think was our 10th full blown attempt at potty training Eliza in the last year, we have finally had success!

And that is right after her urologist said we may never achieve this.

She finally got over her fear, and just like that in one day it was done!

We couldn’t be more thankful that she can physically be potty trained, and more proud of Eliza for how much she had to overcome to achieve this.

IMG_20160305_194601

In other BIG news, this precious boy, who is wise beyond his years, has been soaking up and asking questions about our faith since the day he came home. Last Thursday, with myself and all his siblings gathered round, he asked Jesus to live in his heart with the sweetest prayer I have ever heard!

We called his Daddy and big sis Kayla to tell them the good news, and he said to them, “God has filled me up!”

There is NO greater joy than to know your children walk in truth!!

This photo is blurry, cause someone might have been a smidge teary eyed, but it was taken as we all celebrated that precious prayer with chocolate! I figured if the angels were singing, we could have a celebration too!

IMG_20160324_100027978

Other than those two big events, school, and a whole lot of other normal stuff, we are trying to do something each day for the move.

The animals were all sold the week before last week within days of being listed.

We have the horses with us still, and they will be returned to their owner when we move.

Last fall, Addie and I went through our books and sold about 3/4 of them.

Addie and I have been going through closets and the attics and have taken van trunk loads to donate, and more trunk loads to sell at the consignment shops.

The guys really cleaned the barn, and have been hauling loads to the dump.

We also have been selling all of our farm equipment.

The Lord is really, really blessing our efforts!!

We have an exciting opportunity that I won’t speak of yet, but if the Lord sees fit to let it be our path, we could not feel more blessed!!

We will be listing the farm with our friend/realtor in the next two or three days.

I am sure we will still have some bittersweet moments, but we are all very excited too!

If you would join us in prayer for this huge undertaking, especially for the littles sake, we would be so grateful!

Have a great week, everyone!!
