Appointments

I just flipped through the calendar app on my phone (which I LOVE, by the way) at the last few months.

They have been full of appointments!

Today was no exception.

We headed to the local hospital this morning, as Eliza had an appointment for x-rays and also to see the orthopedic doctor.

She has hip dysplasia, and we are keeping a close eye on it.

I am taking pictures of all of our routine doctor appointments, including the buildings and the doctors, so I can make a photo book to show Tate and Eliza where we are going when we prep them for their medical days.

Especially Eliza.

So I took this photo as we drove up to the local hospital!

Here we are waiting for Blake to meet us in the lobby.

One of us might have been drinking coffee, but that one is not pictured here.

We went and checked in for the x-rays, and colored while we waited.

When I pulled up to the hospital, saw the chaos, and remembered that I am now a decaf coffee girl, I decided to use the valet.

The valet met me at my driver’s door, opened it for me, took my name, gave me my ticket, and was asking me if I needed any help with the stroller or the littles.

Tate kept saying, “Mommy, why is that police officer talking to you?!”

I told Tate that it was the valet guy, and he was giving me my ticket so he could take the van.

While I was checking Eliza in and Blake had taken the littles to color, Tate says “Daddy, is the police man going to give you a ticket and take your truck away from you like he did to Mommy and her van?”

I have no clue where he gets this stuff!

Blake did not know that I had used the valet!

Tate had quite a few people laughing, that is for sure!

Blake went with Eliza to x-ray.

She was a little afraid, because her last “pictures” were in an MRI machine which had terrified her.

She kept saying over and over, “Is that going to be really loud?”

Once they assured her it was not, she stood there still, strong, and brave!

We saw the doctor next, and she was so sweet to ask about Eliza’s progress with her sensory challenges. The doctor was also impressed that Eliza easily let her examine her today!

I am happy to report that all is stable for the time being!

We will recheck with new films in six months!

Another appointment checked off our list!

So proud of our strong, brave littles!

Reunited

These sweet horses.

They are SO enjoyable!

We had a great idea to move Dyna and Shaggy, the two horses that wintered with us, back up to the paddock to munch all the long grass there.

These two girls stood on the cement, closest to the pastures, all. day. long.

Whinnying back and forth with their new best friends!

004

I can’t say Vic, Annie and Zara were any better!

They stood in the pasture, close to the fence where they could see Dyna and Shaggy!

008

When my guys got home, I put out my plea to reunite them all!

012

013

You should have seen them dance and run together!

Especially that little babe Zara!

They were SO beautiful!

So thankful to be able to enjoy these beautiful horses for our time left here on the farm!

And these views!!

They are never, ever lost on us either.

Hanging on tight.

Adoni Acres has been so good to us!

A Page In This Scrapbook

Life is full, busy, and loads of fun!

The things that are filling my days right now are meals and dishes, lots of appointments, enjoying two middles, two littles and a grandbaby, summer school, and keeping up with the house and farm.

Maybe even in that order!

It is keeping me hopping through our days here!

But I am loving it ALL!

One day after we finished school, we soaked some water beads to play with.

IMG_20160602_105240738

Water beads are a sensory activity, but our sensory girl did not like them!

She put her hands in as I snapped this photo, and then was done.

IMG_20160602_154915491

It was all good though!

The two boys played with those beads for hours.

I grabbed Eliza to be my special helper!

She loves to help me in the kitchen.

She helps me everyday!

My new little chef in the making.

As always, I am purposing some one-on-one time with these kiddos.

It is SO important!

Eliza loves to cuddle and be read to!

Appointments in the mornings continue to fill our weeks.

This week Tate had a chiropractor appointment!

We see our chiropractor to promote health, but Tate specifically sees our chiropractor because of his severe scoliosis.

He LOVES our chiropractor! We all do!

IMG_20160606_093522950

Tate and Eliza also had ultrasound appointments this week.

They both have these every six months to check their bladder and kidneys.

They were strong and brave!

IMG_20160606_101317343

These kiddos say the cutest things all day long.

Tate came in from playing outside and said “HELLO!!!! I’m back home!!”

My favorite thing that Tate asks often is “What about the two littles?”

We just might call them the littles a lot.

IMG_20160607_194913208

Chad has been taking care of the farm.

It can be a full time job!

He is doing a GREAT job though!

IMG_20160602_161616931

I love when I bring my phone to the computer to download photos and find little surprises on there!

Hilarious!!

Our sweet Sadie girl is growing FAST.

And getting huge.

She is a ball of fun!!

IMG_20160605_092522384

Around one in the afternoon everyday, the two littles still take a nap.

Our schedule is working well like this!

This gives me about an hour and a half to run around like a blur and try to get some necessary things done!

IMG_20160604_134451168

A lot of our appointments lately have been about therapy services for Tate and Eliza.

Our insurance would not cover what is needed, so we had the littles evaluated by our local school district.

They were not eligible for their services, because they have to have needs in more than one area.

Two of the therapists still met with me and spent time teaching me things that I can do to continue to help the littles here at home!

SUCH a blessing!

My hubby and boys made scooter boards this weekend.

You lay on the board on your belly and use your arms to pull yourself around.

We are using them to strengthen Tate’s core and neck!

They are a HIT!

There are lots of other things we will be doing for Tate too!

Eliza’s need for therapy seems more urgent in my mind.

We have made such progress with the things we have been doing already – but we want to see Eliza THRIVE, not just survive.

I met with the school’s OT therapist this morning, and choked back the tears the whole way home.

What a blessing to have her help!

I am very excited about all the things she taught me to add to Eliza’s day!

We have been feeding Eliza her sensory meals with bouncing, swinging, brushing and jumping.

But now we will be adding sensory snacks throughout the day too!

The therapist let me borrow this weighted lap blanket.

Eliza already used this today and really liked it.

It is very heavy, and lays across her lap when she is sitting or laying down.

We will definitely be using this often!

IMG_20160608_111957020_HDR

There are so many other things I will be trying with her soon.

I am excited to gather some supplies to make “fidget” toys.

I think these will work well for Eliza!

IMG_20160608_091427187_HDR

Just this evening we saw huge progress with Eliza!

She was outside BAREFOOT.

You have no idea what this means to us!

She was barefoot on the sidewalk, and it stopped us in our tracks.

She has walked barefoot on the sidewalk before though!

IMG_20160608_181226904

IMG_20160608_181233312

Then she followed her side kick in to the grass.

And ran, and ran, and ran!

We all stood and watched with tears.

She struggles to walk in the grass in her mucking boots usually!

The feeling of grass on your feet should never stop a little girl from being a little girl and running in the grass – but for our little girl – it does.

To God be the Glory – great things He has done!!

I am so excited to watch the Lord use all the new things I have learned to help Eliza even more!

IMG_20160608_190923175

Today was just such a beautiful day!

We enjoyed being outside SO much!

This was a very random, unorganized page in my scrapbook!

This would not have worked back in the days when I made Creative Memories scrapbooks!!

But it is life here lately!

A bit unorganized, but full of blessings!!

Hope you all are having a blessed week too!

Ten Months

Ten months ago this morning, we stood at the windows watching.

Watching for my guys to arrive home with Tate.

Tate's Homecoming 012

We had prayed for this precious boy for SO long!

God honored all those prayers that were said, and gave us a love for Tate that has never missed a beat.

Tate's Homecoming 046

I can hardly believe that at one time Tate was not here.

With us!

Tate's Homecoming 068

This boy is amazing in so many ways.

He lights up any room he is in with his endless dimply smiles.

025

035

He brightens the world of every single person he meets.

021

He is fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator, in a very, very special way.

A way that his insides medically make little sense – especially when you see the strong healthy boy that Tate is on the outside.

IMG_20160317_115534013

Tate’s adjustment into our family is inspiring.

No surprise to us for such an amazing boy.

002

009

088

His English is coming along wonderfully.

Although there are still times when we are all looking at each other for a translation.

Eliza usually will see our confused faces, yell “Guys!”, and then proceed to tell us what Tate just said.

IMG_20160606_092258243_HDR

Tate’s security has grown by leaps and bounds, but it is still growing.

He asks me all day long “Hold you me, Mommy.”

IMG_20160605_093329813_HDR

What a privilege that is!

He likes his Mama to be in his sight.

But he is used to our schedule now and the things I normally leave home for – like date night.

When Tate’s security starts to slip, he goes back to the beginning and uses his sign language again.

Usually asking for food to make a pile with even though it is not time to eat.

Or he will just sit down REAL hard and let the tears fall.

022

There is not much that Tate fears.

The swimming pool is the only thing I can think of!

012

He does not feel secure in the pool because he is not strong enough yet.

But he likes to float!

046

He has gained SO much strength, balance and coordination in these last ten months!

We do not worry about him falling near as much any more, although we do have rules about stairs, and the bath tub.

015

Medically, Tate is stable at this time.

If we think about the unknown future of Tate’s medical status, we rest in the fact that Tate was fearfully and wonderfully made, and his Creator knows every hair on his head.

012

When I reflect on the complete leap of faith that we took to start a second adoption three weeks after being home with Eliza, I am so, so thankful that we did.

God knew!!

And now I know ALL that we would have missed out on if we had not said YES to this precious child!

003

He is a strong, brave, hero of mine.

And I cannot believe that he calls me Mommy.
