Another Rainy Day

What better to do on a rainy afternoon than add to our little scrapbook here?

It’s rainy and cold too.

Fall came SO fast!!

The colors outside are starting to change, and it just takes our breath away.

This past Saturday we were privileged to attend the MOST BEAUTIFUL outdoor wedding in the MOST BEAUTIFUL location!

The weather was PERFECT!

The Trail Ridge Camp and Conference Center was such an amazing place.

Other than that and a blessed Sunday with Twin Oaks full of people, life has been about play practice, school, chores, food, visiting River’s place, and medical appointments!

Pretty normal stuff, I’d say!!

We are still slowly working through our Laura Ingalls read aloud, but I hope to do it more regularly after the play is over.

I planned a little unit on apples for last Thursday!

Thursdays are when we have extras for school!

It was fun!

I read some books out loud, we tasted six different varieties of apples, did some estimating of how many seeds each one would have before cutting into them, did a science experiment, and sipped some hot apple cider!

I have already transitioned into our fall and winter food recipes!

I love the seasons changing – especially the food changes!

It’s the time of year to hide zucchini in everything – veggie meatloaf was one of those places!

I took this photo and then stuck this pan in the oven to bake for an hour.

It took my crew about 5.2 seconds to empty this entire pan!

Donut hole muffins.

They smelled divine!

Sheet pan dinner!

SO easy and yummy!

Cranberry applesauce!

I CRAVE cranberries this time of year.

A play date at River’s place was PERFECT as always!

Eliza had an appointment at the dentist very early Wednesday morning.

We got half of the work needed done, and made another appointment a couple weeks away to finish the rest.

She cried hard, but Blake and I still think she is SO strong and brave!

I got to see a very good friend who lives too far away at church one Sunday!

IT MADE MY DAY!!

See these two?

That one on the right wakes up EARLY, and READY FOR ANYTHING.

How do I know that?

Because he comes up the stairs and says, “Good Morning, MOM! You look beautiful! I’m hungry, but I’m ready for anything!”

I know.

He is a keeper!

See that one on the left?

Not so much ready for anything straight out of bed.

He is a keeper too!!

I had big school-like plans for this afternoon with my crew, but they are enjoying a rainy day playing together so much that I let my plans go!

Well, there is a chicken cooking on the stove that is going to be chicken salad soon, kiddos playing sweetly with legos, and an empty coffee cup that is calling my name!

Rainy days are a sweet gift, even though hearing the rain on our steel roof makes my heart ache for SO many in our area that just cannot recover from all the flooding.

It looks like the sun might be out tomorrow, Lord willing!

I hope you all are having a great start to this week too!!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

September Stuff

September.

It’s a good month, isn’t it?

Fall is on its way in.

The summer weather is fading away!

School is in full swing.

We are enjoying September very much!

Chad and the cast of a play he is in have been working SO hard to get ready for opening night!

It’s has grown into something beyond our imaginations!!

(I’ll post details when we get closer to opening night about the location and times)

Check out this theater we have been blessed to use!

We had a great game and snack night with the cast their families a week ago Sunday!

Grant and I played UNO with Eliza at one point – but there were games going on everywhere!

I think Four On The Couch was the most fun!

School has been a joy!

I LOVE, love, love to plan their days!!

We still go to the library once a week.

I just enjoy that place so much!

Chad is doing school too, I promise!

I just don’t have a photo of him this time around!

I still need to rest the littles most days.

With our early to rise and somewhat late to bed schedule….they just cannot make it most days.

Rest is important though – especially for Tate!

Ruby Jane.

She is another JOY of mine!

Don’t worry, Addie already knows how smitten I am with her!

She really was asleep on my desk in this photo.

Silly puppy!

She loves to be with us!

A new season means new menus!!

Squash!!

We had these two beauties with spaghetti sauce one night!

And SOUP!!!

I LOVE SOUP.

This was taco soup in the crock pot.

It was a hit!

We also have been having one large salad every day.

It’s my new “we need to eat better” rule!

Addie Mae and her friend Dani painted this old table for me!

Annie Sloan chalk paint does wonders to old furniture!

My mums bloomed!

Aren’t they beautiful?

Part of that ‘still napping the littles’ thing is because of this early bird.

The earliest bird I have ever had in all my years of parenting!

He wakes up hungry too.

This was my view from my bed one night.

It is definitely a photo I will enjoy looking back at some day – one of those evenings when I could not stand up for another minute, and my sweet hubby was doing all the needed things.

He is such a keeper.

So is she, as matter of fact!

Blake took this photo to show Tate what happens when he carelessly leaves his sandals on the porch at night!

Someone moves in!

Speaking of that cutie – he helped me pick Addie up from work one day, and we could not resist this photo opportunity!

(Addie Mae has loaned Grant her car as of late because his is beyond repair)

Tate – you are SO CUTE!!

We love to play games – and fall and winter are game seasons!

I have a little card shark here who has been practicing her shuffling!

Can you believe I am this far into this post with NO sky photos yet?

Just so you know it is not an impostor writing this post, here they are!

I am very sad to share this photo of our “Twin Oaks.”

It seems the oak on the left is not doing so good.

We are sure hoping that whatever has that big ole beautiful tree so stressed will resolve itself and it will be fine come spring!

I took this early on Monday morning.

There is just something about Monday mornings that make my heart sing!

Is it weird to love Monday mornings?!

Well, I DO!!

I also love Twin Oaks FULL of people!

So grateful for all the ones who make this dream come true for me!

I took this photo one evening when everyone was gone and I had a headache that just would not go away.

I soaked my forehead and temple in peppermint oil and laid there next to those cuties!

Blake came home and found us there, but I was asleep!

It’s that time of year again.

Check-ups for our two precious cherubs.

It is A LOT, I’m not going to lie, but it makes us ever so grateful.

Grateful that as we enjoy life with these two precious cherubs, their medical status is not something that is in the forefront of our minds.

Grateful that we really forget about all that medical stuff until their check-ups roll around.

Grateful for all the Lord has done and is doing in their lives – specifically when it comes to their health!!

This week we had their yearly pediatric check-ups.

They are as happy and healthy as they look!!!

The waiting room was FUN!

Tate said to Eliza, “Eliza! Let’s sit in these rockers and act like we are 50!”

Ahem.

When I said, “HEY!!!” they just both giggled from their toes!

September has been so very good so far, don’t you agree?

Friday our low temperature is supposed to be 42 degrees!!

I bet that temperature will make for some beautiful colors in our area by the end of the weekend!

Don’t worry, I’m sure I will capture some of that beauty for my next blog post!!

I hope you all are having a wonderful September too!!

Happy Fall, everyone!!!

A Day Visit

We were super blessed to visit Family Camp on this past Wednesday!

And a beautiful day it was!

The chapel time and Mother/Son time was AMAZING.

After lunch we had the afternoon free.

I am so thankful that I packed the kiddos swim stuff.

It was warm enough to be at the lake and filled our afternoon with so much fun!

Right before dinner the littles wanted to ride the horses, and the boys and Blake did some archery too!

The high light for me was seeing sweet friends that we do not get to see through out the year.

It was SUPER hard to drive away late that night!

We are so grateful for the time we did have, for the beautiful weather, for Hannah joining us, and for all of our wonderful friends!

I believe this is our ninth year that we have either attended or visited Family Camp!

Yes, it is THAT good!

We are looking forward to being there next year, Lord willing!

Counting down the months already!
