Happy Birthday Clyde Strength and Ellie Joy!!

We had a blessed celebration of our sweet grand babies, Clyde and Ellie, for their third birthdays!

Clyde and Ellie are 30 days apart in age, so Clyde is already three and Ellie will be three very soon.

Their excitement for their party, their gifts and the cupcakes was ADORABLE!

We always enjoy being together, but having a party makes being together more special, of course!

I told Kayla I needed a shot of her and Baby K!

I was thinking of you all, of course!

You’re welcome!!

After a delicious dinner of baked potato bar, lettuce salad and fruit salad it was time to let Clyde and Ellie open their gifts!

Just a bit of controlled chaos, if you know what I mean!

Kayla had made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting and the cupcakes were adorable with three candles in them.

The perfect size dessert too!

We sang to Clyde and Ellie.

It was ADORABLE!!!

Ellie was singing along.

I think their faces say it all!

Clyde had his candles blown out before we were done singing!

When Ellie could not get hers to go out, she pushed her plate over to her daddy and he did the job for her.

I guess I don’t need to go on and on about how I just cannot get enough of these precious grand babies of ours!

Being NaiNai is THE BEST.

Oh my goodness – THE BEST!!!!!

We are still excitedly and maybe impatiently (ha, ha!) waiting on our next grand baby to arrive!!

I am sure it will be any time now!!

Clyde Strength and Ellie Joy we are SO thankful for you both!!

You are truly a LIGHT in this world!!

And you fill our lives with JOY!!

Happy, happy birthday to you BOTH!

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

Catching Up

After getting home from Illinois this last time, I have been trying to be diligent to catch up on all the things.

They are little things that have made a big pile!

Things like writing in Tate and Eliza’s medical journals.

Their check-up appointments were way back at the beginning of October, and I have yet to journal about all that we need to remember.

I better put that on tomorrow’s list!

We also had not enjoyed Grant’s birthday meal yet.

His birthday was way back at the end of August – but it was also the day that the flooding happened here in our area and Grant was driving relief truck that day and night.

It has not been easy to get everyone around our dinner table all at one time, or someone home early enough to grill those steaks that have been waiting in the freezer for us!

On date night last Friday night, Blake and I planned to surprise everyone with Grant’s birthday celebration the next night.

YES!

We had a Friday night date night this past weekend!

Did my heart SO good.

I was SO excited about finally having Grant’s birthday meal!

SO….we left the coffee shop and went shopping for birthday gifts! For Grant and for Addie Mae!

Fast forward to the next evening.

We surprised them with these gifts and they were rather confused.

Apparently I need to read my own blog – because we already gave them gifts – back at the end of August when we had Addie’s birthday meal.

Yep. We really did.

Good Grief!

See why I need to keep medical journals for Tate and Eliza?!

Thankfully no one was hurt in the making of this second birthday party.

WHEW.

And the steak dinner was REALLY good!!

In the midst of celebrating birthdays twice and catching up on all the things, we have been doing all of our normal day-to-day favorites too!

Like being at Shiloh Valley Farm! Or the library! Making crafts! Doing school!

We also have some elves that live here now, so we put up our Christmas tree!

We put up a second tree in the family room downstairs, but I did not take a photo of it yet!

My quiet time is all the sweeter with the glow of those beautiful lights!

Speaking of beautiful things, even in the catching up around here, a sunrise or sunset is never lost on me.

I took those first two sunset photos the day I bundled up and headed outside to watch the kiddos practice shooting their bows!

The boys help the littles do it too – and it just makes my heart sing to see how they pour into their lives.

I took this photo after lunch yesterday when I asked Tate to come back to the counter and drink some water.

It is a constant hydration battle with this one!

He told me, “MOM! Chinese people can go two days without water.”

Nice try, cute boy.

I have been making lots of new recipes this week!

This tomato soup was a hit.

The first ingredient was bacon – need I say more?

This was my go-to snack while I was in Illinois and I just had to make them again this week!

They are that good!

Grain-free ginger snap cookies with coconut cream on top.

Now I need another one!

Our sweet girl is getting SO BIG.

And acts SO GROWN-UP.

Cue all the tears.

She knows what she needs these days to handle her sensory needs.

I love that she can verbalize it now!!

That took lots of prayers – and the Lord has greatly blessed our efforts with the therapy, oils, and super clean diet that we have done with Eliza.

Here Eliza is doing what we call “unwinding.”

It’s one of the new things she does that has the same effect as jumping, swinging or bouncing, believe it or not!

There are so many other day to day things that I never take photos of, but I wish I did!

They are my favorite kind of memories to keep!

To close this humbly written post about how dead my brain is, let me just shout out some praise to the Lord we love.

What Blake and I have asked of these kiddos of ours this last month was A LOT.

We would pray fervently over them for unity, grace, strength, safety and protection, and that memories would be made that they would never forget.

GOD ANSWERED IT ALL – beyond what we even asked.

Especially for our precious Chinese cherubs, who still deal with SO much.

We are humbled.

And grateful, grateful.

There is SO very much we are looking forward to, and it just makes me teary eyed as I think of it all as I typed those words!

First up – date night, and then opening weekend of hunting for the guys, and some very intentional time for me and two little people.

Unless a grand baby decides to trump all those plans – which would be GREAT WITH US!!

Have a great weekend, friends!!

Don’t forget to give praise to the one who gave you breath today!!

Kick-Off To The Holidays

Sticking with tradition, we kicked off the holiday season by shopping for and packing some Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes!

As we got ready to head to town to do this, Addie Mae commented that this might be her favorite tradition that we do every year!

I think I agree!

Yesterday afternoon my crew and I headed to the Dollar Store to get all the supplies for our boxes.

I wish I could have recorded the WHOLE thing on video!

These kiddos say the cutest things – and their hearts are so sweet and giving!

After dinner last night we packed up the boxes and made cards to go inside each one.

It was super fun, and busy, and noisy – JUST the way I like things!!

And with that, the holiday season is off to a roaring start!!

First up is Thanksgiving, of course!

But in our world – first up (hopefully BEFORE Thanksgiving!!!) is a GRAND BABY!!!!

Priorities, folks!

We are looking forward to that precious baby more than I could possibly convey – but we are looking forward to the holidays and all that they bring with them too.

Happy holiday season, friends!!!

When We Look Back

Do you all ever look back at something that you have done and say “Did I really do that?”

We sure do. All the time!

I know we will say it again when we look back on this past month someday.

“Did we really do all that??”

The best part of looking back and wondering how we did it all is seeing the Lord’s answer to our prayers in every single detail along the way.

We had begged Him for strength, health, unity, protection, safety, organization, for many other things and to make a way for all the details – and HE DID.

We stand in AWE!!

Things as we moved my Mom could not possibly have gone any better than they did!!

To God be the glory!!

We spent four weekends in a row in Illinois.

This past weekend was four days, four states, and four Moschels – but we got my Mom’s move to her new place finished!

We are so grateful for the boys help this past weekend.

We could not have done it without them!

We never really felt without things we needed – like food, a hot shower, or a good night’s sleep!

Well, maybe when a jar of pickles was dropped and we only had a small roll of paper towels and some windshield wiper fluid to clean it up, we felt like we were lacking in some supplies – just saying!

We had the MOST important things though!

We have been getting up in the middle of the night a lot this past month to allow for travel time.

It is such a beautiful time of the day to travel!

We saw so many sunrises!!

And beautiful skies and fall colors!!

We had a bit of time one day this past weekend after the moving truck was loaded to wander around town.

We got to show the boys all of the places that held memories for us – it was so fun!

This is where it all began – almost 30 years ago now – our very first home!

Isn’t it so cute?!

Speaking of home – it has always been and always will be my favorite place to be – but it is just SO much sweeter when you have been away.

I missed my kiddos SO much!

Addie Mae kept Twin Oaks running while we were away.

This girl can run this place better than three of me!

There were all kinds of fun things planned in advance, fun places to go, and good food to eat!

They even had a little cookie decorating party at River’s place.

Another day they helped Clyde celebrate his third birthday with pancakes and dinosaurs!

Don’t worry – we didn’t miss the family party – it’s coming up soon!!

Tate and Eliza made Clyde a card and they were so cute!

I bet you can imagine what we came home to?

Well, there was crying in my eyes.

Because we are just so unworthy to be blessed with children like we have!

First was a delicious meal….and I had not eaten literally ALL day.

THAT SOUP WAS SO, SO, SO GOOD!!

Of course the house was spotless.

And someone had let an elf loose while we were gone!

The little three talked our ears off and showed us all the things, including this darling craft they made!

We found a box of goodies waiting for us too.

We have the sweetest of sweet friends!

I put that Starbucks gift card to good use already and had a wonderful treat while I waited through Chad’s long appointment at the orthodontist this morning!

Thank you, sweet friends!!

Yesterday and today had me enjoying the simplest joys to the fullest.

Home is the best place to be!!

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind and yet it has been so good.

We are making plans to all go and visit my Mom and my brother at her new place, and we can’t wait!!

First, though, we have a grand baby to welcome into this world!!

I’M BESIDE MYSELF EXCITED!!!!

Did you know it’s a girl??!!

I can’t get David, Kayla or even Clyde to tell me her name – so we are anxiously waiting to know!!!

In the meantime, you can find me here at Twin Oaks – teaching Math, reading to my kiddos, playing games, baking some yummy treats, making soup, and drinking all the coffee.

But the best is yet to come!!!!
